I would first use a magnet to get all the metal pieces out. Then I would saturate the rest of the mixture with hot water. The sugar will melt and form sugar water.Strain the sawdust out and all you have left is the sugar water. After the water evaporates out the sugar would be left/

Rather than simply giving you the answer, let me ask you to do some thinking:
What would pick up iron filings, but not sawdust or sugar?
What will dissolve sugar, but not sawdust or iron filings?
If you dissolve the sugar, and use something to pick up the iron filings, what is left?

Let the ants eat the sugar, then let the termites eat the sawdust, then soak the iron in salt water.
