I am a coin dealer in the Midwest. It's hard for me to accurately tell you much about it without knowing more info. Are there any other numbers besides the date? How do you know for sure it's British?

My knee-jerk guess from what you've said is that it is a "farthing" (1/4 of a penny), but I can't tell you this for sure without seeing the coin. If it is, it's probably worth only a couple or three bucks in used condition...they are pretty common. However, it could be something else entirely.

I'll put this question on watch, and if you can elaborate more about the coin I can probably help.
