I am planning for a holiday where I could feel the exotic india, don't know if I'm heading the right place but I just hope that it is safe, thats all, don't think I'll be travelling in a big group though.

When you are in chennai, you sure can enjoy it, but please take extreme precautions on your own safety. I was born and brought up in chennai and it is in my experience that you need to be careful first. There are many good hotels in chennai. Please stay in good and reputed hotel and when you are in hotel dont let any cleaners come in to clean or take any stuff when you are in the room. Dont open the door for anyone. If you want anything you please go get it yourself. This might be a bit too much an advice. But it is better to take care. And please dont go anywhere out at night alone.
And with good care, yes chennai is very nice place. Do not go to high traffic places such as parrycorner. Visit Mountroad( anna salai) , Shopping malls are a bit expensive there, but is a nice place, has some good book stores (higginbothams and landmark) and for shopping go to Purasaiwakkam ( if you like clothes), T. Nagar is very busy place, Cheap for getting things but very very crowded and must bargain too. But you can go for a walk in pondybazaar in T.nagar and it will be interesting. For visiting temples in Chennai go to Mylapore, See Karpagambal temple and you can visit Sri Ramakrishna math near by , Will be nice in evening. For a nice beach, go to the Ashtalakxhmi temple at Besant Nagar. Marina Beach is nice too , but will be crowded, nice early in the morning.
And be very careful of what you eat. Please always drink mineral water. Do not buy food by the roadside. Buy fruits and keep stock, so if you are hungry you can eat it safely. Find good restaurants to eat ( you will know when u see usually.) If you travel a little, you can go to Pondychery , Visit Aurobindo ashram. On the way stop at Mamallapuram. You should be able to see them in a day. And if you have time to travel further south there are many more places for you to explore. There are some good call-taxi firms, sort of private cab companies and you can hire them to travel.
Good wishes on your trip to Chennai. I am not in Chennai now but miss it a lot.

Chennai is a very happening city to visit, it has ver beautiful coastline, visit Mahabalipuram, an ancient historical site, the city has some beautiful temples, Sowcarpet for the real feel of the city, go to Kader Nawaz Khan Rd, for high end stores, there are malls you can hang out, if all else fails take a car out to Pondicherry and visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
I love shopping in Chennai, as it is cheaper than Mumbai. They have a lot of bookstores and coffeshops.

hi buddy, certainly Chennai is an outstanding and probability-free position to bypass round. The meaning hidden on your question is that you've been informed contra about the city. at the same time as evaluate to different metros, Chennai is ofcourse a probability-free position even for strangers. except for you should confess onething. you want to be careful on your each second in case you quite needed now to not entangle with any undesirable difficulty, in spite of the position you visit. in case you save your doors opened, its is quite weak and risk is there for you get looted eventhough it is your own homestead and the individuals are yours. hence dont provide opportunities absolutely everyone to get lured upon your sources. in case you carry those on your minds you are able to earnings from the international laying off concerns!!
