This guy repeatedly asks about how my boyfriend and I are doing. He's not even a close friend of ours but out of the blue he just asks. He's a proffessional I visit whose 6 years older than me. Give me a couple of reasons please. I think it's peculiar for a guy to be a bit nosy don't you think? Was it just PR (public relationship) or just opening up a topic to talk about?

He's probably just checking your status. Maybe he likes you.
Or, maybe he's just being friendly by asking. Maybe there's no interest there on his part, that he's just trying to make comversation.
If he hasn't made any kind of move or dropped any kind of hints, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

it could be he is just a good person who is generally interested in your relationship and wants to be a closer Friend not all us guys have an ulterior motive frankly we are not that smart

He's testing the waters. He's hoping you would say you've broken up with your boyfriend so he could ask you out.

Maybe he is hoping one day you will say you two broke up. Or could be he just doesn't know what else to say to you.

There is no other reason. He wants you and he's waiting for you to say "Oh, we broke up" before he makes his move.
