When I was growing up you made your choice and you suffered the consequences. Now it seems like no one is held accountable for their choices. Why is no one responsible for their own behavior anymore? Now it is all the fault of ADD, upbringing, TV,etc but no one turns to anyone and says "You made mistake so suffer for it and you won't make it again". It doesn't take a villiage to raise a child it takes parents with the courage to let that child experience the price of making the wrong decision (within reason here folks don't let them jump off plane, but let them fall off big wheel). We are making each generation worse and more inferior to the previous one with this approach.

Every parent wants their child to have a better childhood than they did but they don't realize that they're raising spoiled brats.

unfortunatly that is a result of the nanny state that is being applied to most if not all western countries.

here in the uk we are not allowed to discipline our children anymore through a spank or other such physical method (i dont mean beating kids up, of course that is wrong) but in my day (and i am only 25) if i did something seriously naughty i could well expect to be slapped by either my mother or father, which would make me realise after a few times, i do something wrong and it will hurt.

with not being able to discipline children anymore they do not know the difference from right and wrong, and if they do, they know they will not be punished for it accordingly.

for instance, palm trees in the south west of england have had to be uprooted and placed in less crowded areas as their sharp leaves may scratch young children and leave the local council up for lawsuits.

schools are not allowed to administer ANY medication to a child that has been hurt, or even apply a plaster to a graized knee in cast the child has an allergic reacion to the plaster, leaving the school open to lawsuits.

swings, roundabouts and other such play things in parks have been removed in case any children hurt themselves on them.

obviously there is a lot more (too many to mention) here in regards to what kind of nanny state we are becoming,

but rest assured this can only happen for so long, soon people will revolt against this kind of stupid, moronic legallity and things should return to a happy medium. until then we have to just simply put up with it, not that i am happy about it either

I'll say the most recent reason is b/c people are praying for answers rather than using their God-given BRAINS to solve problems. They think if they pray to whatever God they worship that all the problems of the world will be taken care of and we'll all live happily ever after. That's the trouble w/ the moral push by conservatives in this country. Why take personal responsability when it's easier to keep making the stupidest of mistakes over & over again, then simply pray for forgiveness for being a complete dumbass?

You said it brother. I am in total agreement. No consequences isn't the only problem. We seem to be raising kids in some kind of "feelgood" philosophy that teaches them nothing of the real world. Schooling is set up that way so everyone is rewarded for any type of attempt or lack there of. What happens in the real world - I used to own a business and I know all about it - Pathetic workers who think companies are running to make them feel good about themselves not for profit. It is a rough world out here and all these pampered little crybabies are going to be having major problems when they run into agressive, self motivated achievers who are climbing over them to get to the top. Obviously you shouldn't get me started.

I completely agree with you, and I'm 18 years old. I look around me and say to myself, "This is the generation I'll be growing up with?" To be quite honest, in comparison to the previous generation (baby boomers from like the '40s-'50s), our generation is a bunch of spoiled sissies! *shakes head* You're right, people want to blame ADD ( for adults it's AADD!!!) or something else for a person's behavior rather than let that person suffer for their actions. "Oh, but we don't want to hurt their little psychies..." - that's just a cop-out!

As a Christian, I'm grateful for my parents who raised me up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. They teach me not to be weak but to be strong in the Lord. I know the vision that our congregation has for our next generation, like me and other young people, is that we (the next generation) would be stronger and more equipped for Lord's service.

Parents and society these days don't want to deal with other people's problems (like their kids or even with criminals, let's say) because it's too hard for them to deal with. Isn't it sad how criminals who murder in a most terrible way get away with a "life sentence" or something trite like that, while innocent people get punished way beyond reasonable.

Jeepers, let me get off my soapbox right now...*steps down*...I could go on, but it's pretty pointless. Just want you to know that I completely agree with what you're saying. *sighs* Come quickly Lord Jesus!!!

I think a lot of the younger generations attitudes can now be attributed to the 'permissive parenting' of my generation. I agree with you.
