People trapped in Memorial hospital in New Orleans after Katrina were injected with morphine and another drug to "put them down" because they were to ill to be evacuated. It was 10 days before the staff still there got help.I find it hard to fault these people. A tragic situation calls for hard decisions.

Only other people who have been in a similar situation have the right to judge the nursing staff for what they did.

If I was dying anyway then I would choose the injection. If there was a chance I would recover then I would stick it out to the bitter end.

i think it that type of situation i would take the needle too, it wasn't a wrong decision, it might have even saved those people a lot of pain and the stress of the evacuation and stuff. i don't see where the fault would lie, it seems to me like that was the right thing to do when you consider the well being of those patients. it was definitely a hard decision but i think i would stand behind it.

Euthanasia. I think they were in a living hell there, suffering so much when, in truth, they should have had the very best of care. But they were abandoned and left to die by their families, government, society. The medical people did all they could and deserve respect for making a loving decision. We should thank them, and hope someone would do the same for us.

If I was going to die anyway, give me the needle. In fact I think even if I wasn't trapped in a hospital I would still like to have the option of going on my own will.
