The computer will just cut off at any point and I have to completely disconnect the power to turn it back on. I know it is not a virus. It is an HP desktop.

the quick answer is search for PAID specialist provider. i'm basing the answer on the undeniable reality that you having to ask confirms that you have not the adventure to diagnose and attach it your self. the indicators you've defined should be led to by technique of a minimum of 8 distinct hardware subject matters and three distinct application subject matters starting from a foul skill furnish to deprave ACPI drivers, and likely even per chance an endemic. Asking us to guess on the reason over the web is like attempting to modify a autos oil over the phone. My very last piece of suggestion right it truly is, provide up pushing the skill button! no matter if it truly is a hardware issue, you're in all probability to fry even better parts!

could be a bad power supply as well. Have you also tried to plug it into another outlet? I am assuming that it completely disconnects you mean it shuts off.

this is what I will do
1. check the windows event log, you may get more information there.
2. make sure power box is ok
3. check the display card
4. check the motherboard

I had the similar problem with my dell pc. It will cut off whenever a card design program is loaded. In my case, it was the display card causing the problem.
