Open Outlook ,
Go to Tools,
Select Accounts
Then just Add the email address you want, you can add more then one if you want. (One at a time of course) The address can be hotmail and yahoo or any other service provider you have.
Then send your self a Test Email so you make sure it's working!

Yes, you have to enter the settings of the account you want to check. Usually the email provider will have a help section that tells you step by step how to do it. If not, Outlook help may also have instructions, I'm not sure.

well you have like put your e-mail in the outlook thing 1st, like when it asks you or whatever. then call your server cause you have to add a whole whack of things to your connection so it reconizes ur email.

you have to set it up
you cant just open outlook and check mail
it has to be configured to do this

if you're talking about yahoo, you cant do yahoo with outlook. yahoo's webmail only. other than that, set up the friggin account then click inbox! duh!
