Normally the Salvation Army will pick up old furniture, however, it must be cleaned prior to pick up and must not be torn or damaged. You should also receive a receipt for your donation that may be claimed on your taxes at the end of the year.

If you want convenient and immediate help -try www.freecycle.org. You can post the furniture on the site after you sign up to the group. People reply to your post from your area. You pick who you want to have it and come to take it.
Word of the wise. Clearly identify when you want it out and that they have to have the right equipment to come and get it. (I gave away a dryer on freecycle and two ladies came without any equipment or the right vehicle. I didn't write that they needed to remove it themselves.)

If you have a Salvation Army Thrift Store in your area then you're in luck because they are always taking in furniture if it is nin good condition. The one in my town has a warehouse incase the store happens to run out of space. or you could set it out for free on your curb, but I'm guessing you already tried that. Best of luck to you

Try freecycle.org

You can join the Yahoo group of their local chapter to increase the chances of someone taking your furniture away.
