I remeber the Grail legends, I just can't remeber all of it. Is it just the Grail it self that has the curative properties or can it be a liquid that came from it that has the properties. Please no smart remarks (i.e. its a myth, not true, calling this question silly...) I would perfer honest and sincere answers.

And please no internet sources, as I have checked most of them anyway.

AND YET AGAIN...I ASKED FOR SERIOUS ANSWERS...NOT STUPID AND IGNORANT ONES LIKE THE FIRST TWO.

The grail itself had no majikal properties. However any liquid put into it would have the ability to cure any ailment even raise the dead. It was also said that as long as King Arthur possessed the grail Britain would prosper and grow. That there would be peace and prosperity through out the lands.

The grail legends are extremely messy as far as legends go, going from a lot of different countries that didn't get on at various times. Both England and France have their own versions that get mixed up and such.

The most common power attributed to the grail is it has the power to heal or grant eternal youth from whoever drinks from it. This property is sporadic in accounts, in fact the only reason it is the common power attributed comes from the hollywood film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Remember that the Grail is sought after, even in the legends it is rarely in anyone's possession, the heroes are looking for it. The belief is in doing so they reclaim their honour, valour and become closer to God.

Finally it has been suggested many times that the Holy Grail is a metaphor for other things, even at the time of the legends it evolved out of another story, perhaps one forbidden to be told. You may wish to look into stories concerning Gnosticism, and the Legends of Mary Magdalene

As you suggest, the grail itself has no curative properties, it is the liquid drunk from it that is transformed. You might like to consider the Catholic ritual of drinking wine, which is then (literally, according to Catholic belief) changed into the blood of Christ through a process called transubstantiation. The Protestant version of this process is called consubstantiation wherein the change is only symbolic. Oh, the wars that have been fought over this! Nevertheless, the grail is an extremely powerful magick object and would impart great power to its possessor, whether or not they actually drank from it. BB

Have you read The Davinci Code?? There are beliefs that Jesus married Mary Magdelene, and her Child birthing area was the Holy Grail. Honest! Of course the church says there is no evidence he ever married, but I don;t trust their conclusions either. No reason he couldn't have been married, he was like everyone else back then! And personally what evidence is there anywhere anything is true in the bible. Sorry I rambled.

Who knows maybe it is real and maybe it is not. But good question. The properties of the grail cosist of the cup from which Jesus drank from, or the other source which is the Holy Grail is the blood line of Jesus, maybe a child.

All the branches of the Grail legends: Celtic/Germanic, Christian and Alchemical have one basic property in common; Regeneration.

Well, no one would know. Except maybe Galahad. But I believe it's just the Grail itself.
