Two of some things that can happen:
1) Life forms would die out, or
2) Life forms would adapt to the new environment.
Considering our species, homo sapiens sapiens, I doubt we'd survive or be able to adapt easily. Our bodies aren't built to last in extreme temperatures like that of the focused heat on the half that would be permanently facing the sun, and the extremely cold temperature that the other side would experience because of the absence of a strong source of light and heat.
Our appliances and gadgets wouldn't be able to do much help either, since most if not all are designed to be located in a place of moderate temperature.
Perhaps some creatures would survive, like the cold-blooded animals that can adapt to the temperature of their surroundings, but we wouldn't know for sure until it actually happened.

Well. If i does rotate that way that means it is rotating very slowly. Besides the point of light and darkness that you have stated on each side, i think there might be some differences in season than what we are normally used to. Assuming moon continues to rotate as always, there is a better chance of a lunar eclipse occurring often instead of maybe once a year.

If the Earth were tidally locked so that it's rotation was synchronous to its orbit around the Sun, this planet would be uninhabitable. Due to the extreme variations in the temperature regime on the planet, it would go from boiling hot in the day to freezing cold of a night, and each day and night would last months at a time. The temperature differences between day and night would also generate rapid and rather violent exchange of weather systems between the night and day sides of the planet.
It'd literally be hell on Earth.

First of all, the earth cannot rotate and one half of it is always in darkness. It can revolve with one half in darkness.
Second, we do not always see one side of the moon but alternating sides at any given time.
Good luck with it though!

the celebrities and sunlight do no longer rotate or revolve around the earth. The earth rotates W to E and promises them the introduction of rotating contained in the alternative route. the actual undeniable reality that the earth does rotate is a outcome of its mind-set to formation and the conservation of spin angular momentum

on the edge betwen light and darkeness, in permanent twilight.
theres a sci-fi book about exactly this type of planet, i think it was called Ringworld, because everything had to live in the 'ring' between the light and dark sides.

On the edge!
With my back garden in the light and the fron of my house, and my bedroom in the dark.
Unfortunately that wouldn't work.... I'd actually be in twilight. And bodies usually need to be a bit closer together to get tidally locked ;)
