why is it that mbeki is always seen to be a good leader when he adreess the issuuers of african thatn of south african internal (anc affairs)

Good question. I'm South African and don't think Mbeki is such a good leader. Nelson Mandela didn't think so too. What happened was that Mandela was kinda forced to select him as his runner-up. When Mandela and Govan Mbeki were in prison together, the group decided that when released Mandela would be the first president and then Thabo.

As to his intentions, I think he wants to build good relations in all of Africa in order to develope the South African economy. In my opinion South Africa's problems are more important. Our president however thinks that it is better to get in good with the African countries first, rather than just sucking up to the G8 in order to further South Africa. I also think his futile efforts should be applauded in some ways.

Spare a thought for Mbeki. He was put in this situation by his elders. And he was never a good scholar of politics to begin with.
