I found this site to be one of the best for breaking down the prices for tickets: http://mousetrips.com/tickets.html You can look up adult/child one day tickets, all the way up to a premium pass with no expiration. It's quick and easy.
Since you are going to be so far away, I'm not sure if you plan to go to the park everyday, or if you plan to return to the parks a few times a day, etc. But, you will find that with Disney, the lowest rates will be with the longer pass. If you only plan to go to the parks one or two days, then you may consider getting a longer pass (if you ever plan to go back) with the no exipration option. That way, you lock in the lower rates now, won't have to pay higher rates in the future and you can use the tickets whenever you go back. Otherwise, a length of stay purchase is going to be your lowest option. Once you get to a 5 day pass, the price to upgrade to an extra day only goes up about $1.07 per day, per person. It is a great deal.
As far as where to buy the tickets, the best place is either with your travel agent directly with Disney. You can call or go online. But this way you know you are getting legitimate tickets.

You can order your park tickets in advance by visiting www.disneyworld.com
The price of your ticket will depend on how many days you will be visiting the parks! For example, if you were to go for one day to one park, your ticket would cost $60.00. However, if you go for 4 days, your ticket cost per day drops to $45.00. The longer you stay and play, the cheaper your tickets get. It's Disney's new Magic Your Way plan.
Since you'll be staying off property, you'll want to get a rental car. I recommend Enterprise and Avis only. I've had terrible experiences with all other rental companies. You can arrange your rental car pick-up at the Orlando International Airport so that you can pick it up when you land.

It depends on how long you want to stay and how many people are going. You can go to www.disneyworld.com you can view and plan everything. You can also order a free DVD that will take you step by step on your planning and booking. Email me if I can help you with more. I've got a book of some prices. There are many options, but just a basic one day, one park, one person ticket is $63. More days Cheaper tickets.

I'm going to Disney World next month, and I purchased my tickets from the following web site.
http://www.undercovertourist.com/united-states/florida/orlando/attractions/tickets/
Their prices include all tax and shipping. I looked around, and found them to be the cheapest.
