After Lebanon do you think Isreal is going to sit back and let this happen again. NO!! They are more than likely going to hit Syria and Iran. You know why? B/c they are tired of being pushed around. And the funny part is Iran can't do nothing about it. You want to know why again? B/c If they attack Isreal, that gives the chance for the US to attack Iran and take out their nuclear facilities. Sure they will fight the invaders that invade their county, but for as attacking Isreal, Iran doesn't want us to get involved in war with them because they know that we can wipe out there nuclear capabilties. Will we go nuclear? No way! If any country does go nuclear, more than likely the whole world will reprise them. Any Syria stands no chance against Isreal b/c aas you should know, Isreal has the strongest military in that region.

Even the UN is talking about sending troops from around the world into the middle east.

yeap, i totally agree with you. and you forgot N. Korea, they are probably gonna nuke US or something soon cuz they are just fed up with us always trying to infiltrate them. Russia is probably gonna go for us too for no reason, and we are gonna go for Korea, and China. Well china is just gonna sit back.

It's the potential for WW3. But not yet. As long as the war is contained (yeah, right) in the middle east, then it is only a regional war.

Granted, there's almost no chance that the four current wars in the area won't merge into one big regional war. I'm talking at US-Iraq, US-Afghanistan/Taliban, Israel-Hezbollah/Lebanon, and Israel-Hamas. Especially with Iran and Syria supporting three of the four opposing forces, and with Iran doing its own threatening and posturing over nuclear proliferation.

But even if becomes a regional war (almost certain), it won't count as a world war until it extends beyond that continent. Now, given the evidence of missile technology exchange and military ties between Iran and North Korea, and North Korea's recent activity, anything's possible. If North Korea becomes actively involved in hostilities, that will drag in China, Japan, Pakistan, maybe India and Russia, probably most of NATO. Along with the US, Israel, and most of the Middle East.

That would count as WW3. But we are at least weeks if not months away from that being likely.

Different countries on different continents do not think like the old days anymore. Even the Arab countries do not want to be involved with the current Israel-Lebanon/Syria/Iran hostilities. The superpowers will not even entertain the prospect of any use of their own forces to settle that perennial dispute. Superpower heads of states are not the fanatical religious-types, nor are they despotic dictators, nor military juntas - not desperate terrorists who will use all/any available means to destroy and kill. Stop playing "nukem" - that's fantasy!

Well, even if this happens, it won't become WWIII because america has invaded Iraq and Afghanistan earlier too but that didn't trigger any war of the magnitude of a World War. Not every nation is as foolish as u.s.a. to plunge itself into wars again.

The reasons you gave suggest that it is in fact not World War III since everyone is staying away from war except the Israelis (at least according to your reasoning) on this fight.

not until the "big dogs" like china, russia, and europe send troops in and get involved. definitely has potential for catastrophe but hopefully it won't go beyond the middle east, the world has enough to deal with already.

I do not think it has broken out yet, but I do think that the beginning is there, it has the possibility of ending life on earth as we know it with very few survivors. We can only hope that calm will prevail as it is out of our hands. No one country or person will be able to stop it.

You must not watch the news a lot. This has been mentioned by just about every major news network over the past few days.

The middle east has been a cesspool of war and hate for 650 years or more, only the weapons grow more sophisticated, and soon they will wipe each other out! Its inevitable, History cannot be ignored, even by Americans!.{oh, i dunno though!}
