I think when you're watching tv that you paid for, there should be little to no ads. On regular tv they have to finance it somehow, so I understand the ads.

Yep. It's called the power button. Just turn the tv off when commercials come on, wait a few minutes and watch your show, or record your show and watch t later while fastforwarding through commercials.

I do it all the time. I'm a channel flipper. I usually watch 2 shows at a time and I flip back and forth during commercials.

we have the right not to see commercials if we pay for cable channels like hbo or showtime. the shows on the rest of the channels wouldn't be on if not for their sponsors so we have to have commercials. if they are bugging you then change the channel or leave the room

I would say, when the commercials come on, get the remote & press the mute control. That is what I often do.
