The worst is the way that men have no respect for women anymore. American men blame feminism. I am not a feminist in the extreme sense. Equal pay for equal work, yes. But it is still nice to have a door opened as a courtesy, or be complimented once in a while. I am not going to go off on someone for doing so.
Other societies blame American television & culture as ways of treating American women bad. I do not dress in skimpy clothing or have one night stands like the women in the movies. Nor do I have control over what is sent out over the airways. I do not appreciate being spoken to in a filthy manner. I also do not appreciate being whisted at, "hollered & hooted" at, or leered at.

When I was younger, because I am physically short, I was bothered by the way people would assume that my height made me inferior to them. If I had done something I thought worthwhile, written a show, performed some music, unveiled an artistic project, people would invariably say something like, "I saw your little show..." It was as if short people could only do little things, and I found it arrogant.

After a while I stopped caring. I learned to believe in my work and not worry about that sort of pettiness. usually the kinds of folks that are that way have little to offer themselves, and they are compensating.

Now, as an older person, I am bothered by people's attitudes about age. I've travelled a lot and this seems a very American thing. I spend a lot of time in Italy and I see the young and the old treat each other with respect. Not so in America, where I often see the young be very abusive to the old.

Likewise, because I have learned that it matters, I try to treat others with respect. Even the rude. (Of course, only up to a point...)

There are many acts of rudeness that bother me. For some reason, it seems as if every McDonalds you go to, no matter where it is, the person at the drive through is rude as hell. Is it a job requirement to be rude? They just hand you your change and food and dont utter a word. Why does managment tolerate this? Most other fastfood drive throughs arent like this. And for all you people who might say, well they dont get paid enough. Get another friggin job!!!!!! Staring is one of my biggest pet peaves. I cant stand all you rude a$$holes that stare!!!!! Didnt your mom teach you any manners or respect for what the other person is feeling? People who bump into or blatantly shove other people without saying "excuse me" is another one. Its like the whole world is supposed to jump out of their way.

I work where I encounter alot of people and I am appalled at the selfishness of humanity. If they're having a bad day they want you to have one too! One day I watched as 5 or 6 upstanding citizens cut infront of a 4 year old boy who was standing there patiently waiting his turn, someone else stepped infront of him so I looked past the adult brought the child up front and do you know the adult was insensed that I had the nerve to do that. i could be waiting on someone and have another person come up and start telling me what they want as if the other person wasn't even there.

my age is 53 and i live in missouri in the united states... and i think it is rude when people act like they are better than someone else.. we are all created equal in gods eyes.. but those that have money think they can just throw their weight around and get what they want... and try to make the other person feel low down...i think the world would be a better place if people were nicer to each other...treat someone as you wish to me done like..

Immigrants don't seem to understand American culture and shove their way to the front of the line.

Also car drivers who seen to think they are more important than everyone else. (Everyone else should compensate for their errors. Such as they forgot to get in the correct lane so everyone should stop and make room for them. Such drivers need to proceed ahead and turn around at the first opportunity.) I'm over 25, female, Michigan.
