Bleeding during pregnancy and miscarriage are not entirely the same. I have seen many cases of mothers who have bleeding in pregnancy but carry the pregnancy to term and delivering healthy babies. Conversely, there are a lot of cases of miscarriage with no bleeding in the early stages. Bleeding in pregnancy does increase your chance of having a miscarriage but it is not a certainty
However if you have bleeding during your pregnancy, you should see your doctor as soon as possible. A small number of miscarriages can be prevented with medications.

I am currently almost 14 weeks pregnant. When I was 8 weeks gone, I had a sudden gush of blood and, like you, passed a clot. Naturally I freaked out. I went to see my doctor, got sorted for a scan and everything was fine. Things like that just happen from time to time for no apparent reason, but a gush of blood and passing a clot isn't usually considered severe. To put your mind at ease though, I'd recommend seeing your doctor.

I have never passed a blood clot and not miscarried. But that doesn't mean that you are going to miscarry. Depending on how far along you are, it could be that the placenta is sitting on your cervix and the clot is coming from it. You need to call you DR ASAP!!!

A friend of mine, had gone to a dr for a check up, after having some bleeding. She was only 6 weeks along at the time. The note from the specialized dr said that the pregnancy was a miscarriage. She waited before going back to the regular dr for her next appointment. Today, she is 32 weeks along in that same pregnancy.
So, for sure can go either way!! If something one dr says doesn't seem right, ask questions, including for a second opinion from a different dr if you feel it's needed!!! If you don't stand up for yourself and your baby, who will??

You don't say how far along you are. If its under three months you will probably miscarry. If your past three months get your butt to the doctor.
I know that isn't what you are wanting to hear but let me tell you that sometimes these things happen for a reason, even if we can't see it right now. I've miscarried twice myself and I was still able to get pregnant later and have a healthy baby who is now a teenager.
Go to the doctor and let him tell you if the baby is fine or if you need to get to bed or what.
Good luck to you.

I have a friend who did. She had tons of problems through her pregnancy(that was just one of many). She was on bed rest for the last 3 months of her pregnancy. SHe gave birth 2 months early, but she has a very happy and healthy 2 year old little girl! There is definitely hope!! Try not to stress too much...I know easier said than done, but stress is not good for either of you. I hope everything turns out OK for you!! Good luck!!!

My sister in-law did. She was under the care of a OB-GYN doctor though. She had to rest a lot, and there were other things her doctor advised her not to do. If you're not seeing a doctor for this pregnancy, you really ought to start.
I remember it making a difference to her whether the blood was bright red, or old and brown.
Good luck.
