Assuming you use MS Internet Explorer, go to the View dropdown menu. From there, choose "Toolbars." Make sure that the option "Standard Buttons" has a checkmark next to it. If it does not, click it to select it. That should bring your buttons back.

If, after making sure that "Standard Buttons" is checked, you still don't see your buttons, go to View->Toolbars->Customize... This will open a dialogue box that will allow you to pick and choose which buttons are displayed. Find the buttons that you want and click "Add." After adding them, click OK.

Best of luck!

if its just the green arrows on the standard toolbar then follow the steps below.

1) right click on the toolbar
2) select customize
3) click on the "Reset" button

if its the whole toolbar that is gone then just right click on the toolbar and select the "Standard toolbar" option.

This should help.

goto VIEW then TOOLBARS then see if standard buttons is unselected... if it isnt then goto TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS then ADVANCED then RESTORE DEFAULTS... you may need to readjust your security settings again but this should work... if none of this works you will have to reinstall IE... Also you can click on history to get to a page you were previously instead of closing and restarting
