A student of mine argues that he is right in using Likert type scales to measure the knowledge of his subject on the mechanics of condom use. Is he ritght? If the answer is "yes" Explain how?

1.never
2.once
3.two times
4. over 20
5. over 100

How many sizes of condoms, are there?

2.three
3.six
4.nine
5.More thy I can court

Were condoms first used at what date in time?
1.1990
2.1800
3.1700
4.1600
5. BC

These are not the best question, but you get the idea!
1. strongly disagree
2. disagree
3. maybe
4. agree
5. strongly agree

You should already know the question, an points are gives for knowledge. Some question are not counted. Control questions.

Juvenile is on the right track but Likert Scales are more so ratings rather than multiple choice as he is indicating. Using a Likert Scale would be having several questions that your student thinks are relevant to the "knowledge," each of which are on a scale (typically 1-5 or 1-7) of aggreeance. Such as:
The tip of the condom should point outward when putting on
1strongly agree
2 agree
3neutral
4disagree
5strongly disagree

The student needs multiple questions along these lines. Also, they need to make sure to come up with a scoring system prior to giving the measure for others to take. When he runs the statistics ( I assume in SPSS, JUMP or something along those lines) he needs to make sure to run descriptives, frequencies, etc and to reverse score certain items. Reverse scoring is important and comes in so that you know a person isn't just answering straight down and not really reading the questions. To reverse score, he will need to have some questions where agreeance is a measure of knowledge and some where agreeance is a lack of knowledge.

even as bignicki is genuine in declaring that the Decibel scale is logarithmic, the numbers given are incorrect. A 6 dB develop is a similar as doubling the sound intensity. so surely, 30 dB develop is a similar as 2 ^5 situations the sound intensity, or 32 situations. (This only takes position to be the further or less the intersection factor between both scales, i'm no longer certain if bignicki chosen it for that reason.) this can seem pedantic, yet attempt a similar component with a valid intensity 10 situations. This surely equates to 20dB. The ratio of sound intensities has a logarithmic foundation given by using accurate the following formula: dB = 20 log (H1/H2) (The derivation of this formula comes from digital idea evaluating volatages or skill. I doubt you're in touch interior the completed complexities, so will go away it to you to maintain on with up if so wanted.)
