Is it really worth it? I mean you may have to deal with the situation more on a public side, than just personal... and what if there is retalliation?

you might be able to sell your story to a tabloid or something..but depending on who your going after you may be sued for defamation of character and open a big can of worms for yourself...and needless to say..bye bye to any money you might get! and a lot more you don't have! I would think wisely!

Well, you know that you are going to. You are simply looking for someone to say that you aren't a scum-bag for doing it, and you aren't getting that here.
