Sounds like you're losing your mucus plug. Call your doctor. Contractions should start within a few hours if that's what it is.

I had that about a week before I had my baby, and again a couple days before. I'm guessing it was normal, doctor wasn't concerned as long as there were no other problems. Just body preparing for the birth it seems. You could always call and ask, just to get your doctor's opinion on it though. An increase in any crampy feelings or back pain is a sign things are moving along also.

Did you have a vaginal exam or have sex in the last 24 hours? Sometimes that can cause some spotting.
How much blood? Just a little when you wipe with TP or are you soaking through pads?

I would check with your doctor. At 39 weeks it is safe to take the baby if they have to.

Call your doctor, my labor started with streaking a couple of hours before i felt my first contractions. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
