On average it should only take 2-3 minutes. But to help make it a little faster, would be to stop some of the programs from running in the back ground.

Click start, run, type, msconfig, startup tab, search for the startup item names, to see if it is needed to run all the time in the background. The link below will help you out.

Couple of things could have deprive u from faster booting viz,

1) Too many files in boot sectors esp if you have too many
anti virus or anti spyware running at the same time.

2) Your RAM is small say 256M or less

1) download below to help u limit software in boot sector
2) Go get 1GB RAM or more.

best of luck.

Could be lots of things. If it has always been this way, it's probably slow processor speed.

Otherwise, you may have a lot of background tasks running.
To help this, click [Start] then click [Run...] type (WITHOUT THE QUOTES, ALL ONE WORD: "msconfig"

The press [Enter] or click OK.
Go to the startup tab. Un-Check any programs you do not need when you start your computer. Be sure to click [Apply] before you click [Ok] It should ask if you want to restart your computer. Restart when ready.

You might also be short on memory. Depending on what model computer you have, an upgrade could be as little as $40. Adding memory is a cheap way to speed things up dramatically. Try Memory4all.com's online system to see what you can get for your system.

I'm not affiliated with them, but I've used their services, and it worked great.
