Either the thermostat contacts are stuck, or the main relay on the A/C is stuck in the "on" position.
Your house A/C should have its own circuit breaker. If so, turn it off. It should also have it's own electrical fuse box, usually outside near the unit itself. You can usually and safely pull the fuses out by grabbing the handle to their holder.
Call an A/C repairman to fix it.
Whatever you do, don't touch any electrical connections!

Turn it off at the main breaker and call a repairman. Mine did that and the switch within the unit was destroyed and the unit couldn't read the thermostat to realize that it was already cooled. I recommend ARS if they are in your area. They come on time (even on Christmas Eve)!

If the vent is still blowing cold air it sounds like the contactor is stuck in the closed position. If it just the fan inside your house is running, then it sounds like the fan relay is
stuck in the closed position

Either your thermostat could be messed up or the blowers may still be running even though the air conditioner isn't.
