Love and God as one item is a deceptive thought introduced by organized religions.
Being love thought as a good thing, the indentification of Love and God in the same concept is intuitively positive for them.

Also, the idea that love is given by God to everybody, including atheists, blocks any possibile debate over this matter between believers and non.

Although i am certain that love is a psyco-biological feature, independent from beliefs, only the hypothetical total absence of God from the human thinking would allow the quest for the true essence of love.

great question,ciao

From the Christian perspective, as others have pointed out, God is love. Therefore, we love, in other people, that which is like God in them.

How, then, could there be love without God?

Absolutely.

Though religion is a must to some people,it is possibly to love without it.Love is a feeling that comes involuntarily.

It can be taught, but we already know what it is.
