that's a tough question. it's easy for me to sit here and say no, i'm not afraid of death. when my time comes my time comes. but in reality, when death is looking me square in the eyes, i'm sure i'll be scared sh%tless...............

my faith tells me not to be afraid. i know that we all go to a better place. so that part isn't what really scares me. what i'm afraid of is the void that would be left on my children. i know the pain i felt when my parents died, i don't want my kids to go through that....but it's something i won't be able to help them with. i can only hope that i did my job well enough as a dad, so when they remember me, they will always feel the enormous love that i have for them.

Dude... because of my work (safety & security) and my religion (catholic), I have made some reflexions. People is not so scared of whats after life itself. It's more scared of the process.

I had the experience of going to a hospital and review corpses after a traffic accident, big crash in a highway. You see that big injuries, and you wonder how does that person would feel if he were still alive. It would be horribly painful.

Human beings are preety scared of pain, of the painful process to die. Usually, if you think in how woluld you like to find death, you would say "sleeping", or "kick and painless".

After this life, our soul (our mind, our conscience, as you want to call to it according to your religious creed - or noncreed) will meet something. From my side, I think we will meet God.

What are the options?
- God
- God and Heaven / devil and hell
- A more elevated state of existence, preserving our conscience
- A more elevated state of existence, without preserving our conscience
- Return to Earth, as a different life being (human or inferior)(?)
- Nothing (so, you will end your existence)

And you will still be scared of pain. Pain of being for an eternity on hell. Or scared of a painful return. Or scared because you will not know what to do if you still continue existing but everything you know changes (even the laws of the physics and the time).

Let me a catholic comment: once, a person of India sayd "what has this person done to deserve this painful death? It's horrible". He was watching the JesusChist in the cross.

I hope to have an painless process. To die surrounded by people I love and that love me too. I know this cannot happen. I can find my death when travelling, or in a chemical accident, it's part of the risk I take every day. But it's the way i live my life. And even then, i'll try to keep my peace of mind, with the hope from which it comes...

I'm not exactly happy with the prospect, but seeing as it is unavoidable, I just better deal with the fact.

Two basic choices: be religious or not.

Pascal's wager is that it is better to be religious so as to be in line for afterlife if the promise is true. If the promise is not true, then one won't be any worse off.

I reject Pascal because being religious will compromise the life I know I have in two ways:

1) There are certain restrictions religion imposes. Some of those are for my own good, which I follow anyway--such as being honest, such as behaving myself sexually.....and so forth.

2) The propect of a life hereafter reduces the stakes of needing to live the life we do have to the fullest.

Ergo, I operate under the assumption that this life is all there is. Ergo, I am resolved to "get 'er done" now.

What we should fear is dying without having lived.

I'm not afraid to die, i just don't plan on doing it anytime soon. I'm not afraid to die because death is part of life, and we all must die at some point in order for life to exist. Who knows maybe death will turn out to be better than life. No one can say for sure. I know one thing I'm not eager to find out, all will come in due time.

It's not so much that I'm afraid to die as I am afraid of dying *right now*. There's still so much I want to see and do! I believe in an afterlife, but Earth is full of interesting stuff and I've only experienced a fraction of it.

ya i m afraid to die bcoz every person according to me has some fear a fear of death that is existance fear , phsical problems or its stress and mental stress.if u have one of it a lot for example fear of existance then the other two fears would be little less .u may also have one of these problems more and others less as everyone including myself have .just think about ur self u will understand which fear u have the most and then u will surely understand what i said .no person in the world is without fear and so even i have one of the fear much more than the others.

i'm a young christian and it is said for all men to die and be reformed into a more holy body in heaven so this is amazing for someone as young as me to say but when my time comes i'm ready. i'm not saying i want to but i'm not gonna try to live forever and its a part of life, don't be afraid of what comes after life but rejoyce for what awaits like relitaves or pets or some other good stuff so no im not afraid and i will live my life to the fullest for my grandma who died last year and i shall not fear what lies ahead in the life after.

I'm more afraid of looking stupid with my sentence structure.

I've been close a couple of times. The 2nd time was scary (but mostly because the MD's were "cold").

I enjoy each day (as it is given). I simply can't control the unknown.
