Sissy,
The answer is quite simple. The possession of weapons by citizens (subjects) has always been outlawed in most Asian countries. The rulers have always found that it is easier to control and abuse the populace, if they have all the weapons. Left with the problem of dealing with criminals and bullies, the people developed ways to defend themselves empty handed, or with any object close at hand. If they could have had swords, bows, or guns, we probably wouldn't have all these cool martial arts movies, and martial arts schools. The reason we enjoy the few remaining (and fast disappearing ) freedoms we have, is that the founding fathers of this country were students of history. They knew that if we were to have lasting freedom, the right of the citizens to possess and bear weapons (read firearms ) must be protected at all cost. Whenever you hear a politician telling you that you will be safer when everyone is disarmed, you are listening to the voice of a potential tyrant.

becos the concentration of people of asia was from the starting a little away form industrialization , and more into spiritualism. we people of asia undertood some deep facts of great cycle of living from mother nature and the true balancing act of our mind and body while the brits and uncle sams where busy invading countries. while we understood how to make things( martial arts for body and soul) the brits and sams understood how to breal things.
this is precisely the reason, that most martial arts come from asia

They were more close to nature. Perhaps our ancestors were more keen in observing animals and their behavior. Europe doesnt have a lot of creatures that are said to be inspiration behind those arts, like monkeys and snakes and catterpillers etc :)
