1 km = 1000 m (metres) = 10^3 m. -----(1)
1 m = 100 cm -------(2)
Substituting the value of (2) in (1)
gives 1 km = 1000 (100 cm )
therefore 1 km = 100000 cm = 10^5 cm.
Hope you have understood this conversion.

According to the metrix system (I don't know if i spelled that right), 1 kilometer = 1000 meters.1 meter = 100 centimeters. So, by multiplying 100 by 1000, you get an answer like this: 1 kilometer = 100, 000 centimeters.

There are 100cm in a m, and 1000m in a km, so a km is 100 000 cm (or 1x10^5).
