The best and *only* tip you'll need:

Wait until he's ready. Then he'll walk without any promotion.

I'm assuming your son crawls and walks when you hold his hands. Next would be to get him to hold the couch while he stands, and then you have a toy he wants at the other end of the couch. He'll first go to the ground and crawl to that spot, then get up. If you keep doing this, and moving the toy further and further each day, he'll eventually walk holding the couch. Also, you need another person to sit, oh say 4 to 5 feet away, and you get him to walk to the other person. It takes time. My son didn't walk until after his first birthday, and my daughter was walking, scratch that, running at 10 months old. Go figure. Kids all learn at there own pace. I have a friend whos daughter didn't walk until she was 18 months old, she was a chubby little cutie, but that just goes to show each child has their own pace.

Buy him a little walker. It reminds me of a little shopping cart without the basket. It has wheels and it is easy for baby to lift himself up on and walk around assisted. It will most likely take a week or two, but then you'll notice him taking one or two steps from the coffee table to the couch. It's amazing. I wouldn't worry too much about the walking issue tho. Babies kind of walk at their own pace. He will definately walk when he is ready. But you can give him an extra push with the walker. : )

Well...this is what i did to my baby brother when he started to walk...

!st of all the walking thing should be taking place on somewhere soft...you can do it on carpet or in a sand pool, if possible provide a wide room for your baby to walk...in case he falls...he wont bump at anything and the soft sand or carpet will not hurt his knee...

If he's so new to it, it's always a good thing to guide him, hold his hand and keep smiling and not showing any worried face when he falls...you can lead him with his few first steps and if he's getting better...

I used to encourage my bro to walk by standing a few step away from him with his fave toys in my hand...tell him to stand up and walk towards me to read for his toys...

This will be his reward for walking, you can also ask his fave person to reward him with hug and kisses...

Move out your sofa cushions so he can pull himself up and cruise along it. Or, let him cruise around a coffee table if you have one. Try taking his arms and walking w/ him step by step. Try an exersaucer. They are great for strengthening the legs and ankles in preparation for walking.

Also, get some good walking shoes. Don't use a walker! They are dangerous and can collapse w/ your child in it!

He will walk when he is ready but if you would like to help a baby walker would be good, my mate has a baby girl she is about 14 months and isn't walking yet. So don't panic.

the best one is,don't force it..we have 3 kids, & all of them walked at different ages...remember that their bones are still forming, strengthening,so be careful not to over do..i think crawling is the best training before walking & most babies will walk when they're ready to.they have a general age guidline in most baby info books, that will always differ sllightly from to another.if your baby is about a year, & hasn't made any attemps to walk ask your pediatrician..good luck!

if you are a user of rise try this. soak 1 to 2 cups of rise in water for atleast 2 hrs. wash the rise with bare hands and drain the water in a container. heat it to a bearable temperature and pour them over your child's legs slowly. do it regularly.

walking is a milestone that happens when the baby is ready. i know it is exciting when they learn knew things and we want to hurry them along but let it happen naturally.
learning to walk is also how they test their own confidence. i promise you your baby will learn soon enough. good luck.
