I am petite; so I enjoy wearing shorter skirts. Our office requires hose be worn with skirts.

Use the Catholic school rule of thumb. Get down on your knees while wearing the skirt. If it comes within a finger's width of touching the floor, it's fine. If not, don't wear it to work. The worst thing you can do early in your career is to be known as the one with no discretion or bad taste. Dressing like a professional in an office that has a dress code is always good for your career.

Since the office dress code requires hose, the employer probably wants a conservative appearance. If you think a skirt might be too short it probably is. Wearing pantyhose shouldn't affect your decision about skirt length. To maintain the right image your skirt must do more than just conceal the tops of your stockings. Consider what the other women are wearing. It's not a good idea to have your skirts shorter than the rest of the group.

Hello Kathy, my husband has always felt that if you are standing up with your arms at your side and any of your fingers are below the bottom of your skirt then you are wearing a micro mini.
I would say that most offices would allow you to wear them 3-4 inches above your knee. Shorter than that and you may distract the guys too much!
Good luck

If you are support staff around the office, and the boss is a dude you should follow this simple rule:
The shorter the skirt the bigger the raise.
Bonus points if you occasionally wear stockings and bend over to reveal the straps from the garter belt during a frenzied attempt by your workgroup to make a deadline.

Skinny girls like you have the advantage that they can wear anything without looking vulgar. Therefore, your skirt may be as short as you wish,if your office doesn't require otherwise. If you need to wear pantyhose, make sure it is especially designed for miniskirts(that is,without visible thickening).Modest heels also help avoiding vulgarity. So feel free to wear what YOU think looks best on you.

Skirt length when it pertains to office wear vs. casual is totally different. For the office, if you cannot bend over slightly without everyone getting a glimpse of your underwear then it's too short. As well, you have to consider your career aspirations. If your skirt is too short, no one is going to take you seriously as their focus is on your physical attributes and not the head on your shoulders.

when you put your hands down to your side and your skirt is shorter then your middle finger its to short. i think that weart short skirts with hose and heels jus make women look like hookers. a skirt thats right above or just below the knee looks nice with hose and heels as long as you find the right skirt.

Luckily, a lot of women like to wear short dresses with hose and heels. Do a search on yahoo for "Pantyhose Fetish". Hell, type any random word with the word "fetish" at the end. You'd be surprised at what you find. If Yahoo has done nothing for us, it's at least made people with fetishes seem less alone.

Don't worry about the shortness because you have the "essentials" already covered with pantyhose! Short skirts and minis look really great with pantyhose... a look to die for! Enjoy...
