since we can only use certain criteria to get information. how accurate can it be.

The astronomical information comes from
spectra, brightness, measuring of periods, (changing) positions and theories.
99% is guess work thanks to the theories.
So you hardly can call astronomy a real science. It is more a believe, a faith as religion !!!

I asusme you meant "astronomical" not "astrological". (Much of the astrological body of "information" is not based on observation.) Light spectrum and velocity (inferred from doppler shift of light) are only two of many sources of information about celestial objects. And light properties can be measured very accurately when sufficient signal is present. There is also information about shape (when angular size is large enough), distribution pattern of multiple objects (e.g., galactic shape), other emissions such gamma and X rays, radio frequencies, particles. And what else can be inferred from light alone from its spectrum and red shift is pretty impressive too. Orbit, mass and composition for instance.

First of all I hope you mean astronomical because astrology has nothing to do with spectra... it is a statistic of coincidence between earthly events and astronomical events.

So now to our subject.

The spectra of emission of any body in the world can give us a lot of information for it like its chemical composition, surface temperature etc. if that is what you meant.

However most of our knowledge comes from a combination of the observation of stellar bodies, their motion and a lot of theoretical mathematical modelling that comes from these observations.

We are everything and everything is one so everything will find relevance to everything else. If it doesn't fit into the puzzle then it is being put together incorrectly.
We base our knowledge on our findings with study, only then can we come to our conclusions. All experiments and theories are a accumulation of evidence making it more like a probability than a possibility if the puzzle is building a picture rather than just pieces to a puzzle.
