With Bush saying that he will veto the bill that just passed, it becomes increasingly apparent that the only people against this potentially world changing research are the people who don't understand it. What do you think?

Hey, jasonalwaysready is totally right. I know nothing about the subject. I just work in Biopharmaceuticals, and am working on my Master's in Genetics, but hey, I don't know jack. I'll concede, it's not a total ban- but damn close. The cell lines that research is restricted to in the US is heavily constrained. Of the available 78 cell lines useable for culturing and study, only 15 are truly useful. The cost to develop new lines is astronomical. You're right man, I don't know what I am talking about. As to the "breakthroughs" in adult stem cells (extremely limited in scope) they are in adult stem cells because that is where the research is restricted to.
Kinda hard to make breakthroughs in something when you cannot fund it. We spend close to $1,000,000,000 monthly in Iraq. Funny to think if we spent that annually on stem cell research, we could actually CURE things like diabetes. That's what's total crap.
