I enjoyed reading Les Miserables. I thought the story was great, but it did get bogged down in some details. There would be whole chapters just of historical recaps...which I guess were somewhat important for getting the background of the story...but rarely moved the fictional plot forward. But as I said, I enjoyed it. The boring parts are easily skimmed.

Yes, I read Les Miserables when I was a teen...although that's been years ago, the book is timeless and is a good read. Go for it!

Incredible story. Sometimes the book gets bogged down with details, but it's still a good read. I love the story of the bishop's candlesticks.

i have tried, and i failed, les miserably.
i went to see the musical, astounded by the thought of turning an unreadable book into a watchable musical.
i was astounded once again.
you can't.
it was dire.

i havent read it but i went to see the show in the West End and oh my god it was amazing. its really good on a stage but i can imagine the book been a bit boring

Yes... I saw the broadway play also- it was great. I loved it.
