At work our server has a fire wall built in and it is causing problems for me as I can not recieve valuable information. Is there any way that this can be turned off

not remotely, if you could it would be a pointless firewall. The only way is to speak to the administrator who can then re-configure it to allow whatever you want through. The whole point of a firewall is to create a secure network.

If you mean the windows firewall build in on windows XP.
Here is how to turn it off.
Go to your control panel>>>and switch to classic mode,then double click the "windows Firewall" icon and turn it off.
But i suggest you leave it ON,unless you want to install another firewall which is not from windows.

if you turn off the firewall at work i think a few days later your be looking for a new job

Call your tech support and tell them what it is you can't do because of the firewall. If it's really relative to work they'll gladly temporarily disable whatever block the system has in place.

NOT LEGALLY IF YOUR AT WORK!!!

Just trying to keep you from getting fired or arrested.
I f you really need to get to a site for work, just ask them. most times they will ok it, unless the site has been marked Dangerious. Meaning it contains Malware.

Please read your employees handbook or ask your boss.

ask an administrator or find a program to install secretly on the server that will turn it off or turn it of yourself.
