Alright, I don't need anyone to tell me how stupid I was for this, I already know that.
I lent my boyfriend some money (about $365). There were a couple things that I didn't have a choice on - he was selling stuff on my ebay account and the item didn't make it to the customer and so the money had to be refunded. This was about $150. And then I lent him money for a couch for his apartment, which was $175. (I know, I know, this is probably the time you're going, "what the HELL were you thinking?!"). He said he was good for it and for God knows what reason, I believed him.
But THEN we broke up in May, and I knew he only got paid once a month. So I waited until mid-June to ask him for the money - hell even a small chunk of it, and he said he didn't have it b/c he'd just paid off the couch, he'd get it to me soon. So I wrote him an e-mail yesterday and he'd blocked my e-mails!! I want to get him to sign a contract to pay me, but I don't know how to write up a contract. Any tips/advice?

Well, you have too options....one, take him to small claims court, which will cost you more money, and you may not win....second....forget it, and learn from this........oh yeah, there is a third, kill him.....you won't need money for quite some time....and you will be happy.....okay, maybe the third idea isn't so good.....the contract.....jsut have him sign an I.O.U. you write the amount, and what for, and that he owes you that money by a certain date....make it a resonable date......then if he doesn't pay you back.....your chances in a small claims court jumps to about 95% for a win

Unless you can prove it was him using your ebay account and not you, you are most likely stuck with that monetary loss. As for the Sofa purchase. Tell him you want your money or you will take him to small claims court. And mean it. The question you need to ask yourself is "is it worth all the effort?" if the answer is yes then go for it. If it is no chalk it up to experience and move on. And Honey forgive yourself. You're not stupid or dumb We all at one time or another in our lives, fall for the lies of one we love. Just don't make this mistake again. Good Luck.

PS when you take him to court put in for that ebay money too. If you're lucky you may get it all back.

Slap him with a law suit. Many courts view a verbal agreement as a legal basis to sue. I seriously doubt any judge will believe you just handed over the money to him because you had nothing better to do with it. If you have the email where he wrote he didn't have the money to pay you back, take it to court with you. There's your proof that this money was not a gift. Also take all the receipts of when you loaned him the money. Good luck to you.

You should have had him write a promissory note while you were together. That way if he didn't pay you you could of took him to court ,but now you can't you have no proof that the money was a loan or a gift.If you go to court they'll say it was a gift because you don't have a promissory note.Don't try to get him to sign one now it's to late.Sorry but your money is gone.Chances are your not going to get it back.

i agree with the statement about being a state or federal employee. if he just got done paying off a $175 couch, he should still have some money left over.
the state looks down on employees who end up in court on a regular basis. i say if he wants to f... with your credit - f... with his job , his livelyhood , his income , his everything. that's what he gets for not being a man of substance -f...ed!
SO THERE! HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW?

If he is blocking your e-mails its highly unlikely that he will sign a contract.Probably going to just be a loss for you and an expensive lesson learned.Unless of course you want to take him to court.maybe judge judy,or judge hatchett could help.LOL sorry couldnt help that one.Just learn from this and be careful in the future.Good luck God bless:O)

he still owes for the ebay account then? good. we have proof!
take his sorry butt to court.
if he gets paid once a month he's probably a state or fed. employee. trust me, the state and fed. do not want any of their employees going to court over money.
