There aren't too many places I know that were definitely named after King George III... it wasn't all royals they hated, just as people today can think Bush/Clinton/whoever is an absolutely dreadful president, but still think Lincoln, Washington, etc. were fabulous.
Virginia, at least, was named after the beloved Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth I.
Interesting tidbit- if you're familiar with British royalty, you can very roughly trace the settlement patterns in eastern Virginia, as people frequently named places after the monarch at the time.
James City County is further east than Charles City County, which is further east than King & Queen County (named after William & Mary) or King William County.

That is a good question. It is not just British named towns either. There is a lot of French and Spanish names that we never changed as well. I guess it just shows how diverse our country is. It also helps us to remember the battles the early Americans fought to build the nation and keep our freedom.

would have been too much trouble. Jamestown was Jamestown for 100 years before the revolution.

Either the legislators do not have time to consider and debate about changing those names or they want to keep those names for historical reasons.

I don't think it was anti-British so much as anti-monarchy. That's probably why we've kept the names.

No need to. Good or bad, those names represent our heritage. They are a part of us.
