For example Thanksgiving Break is 2 weeks and Christmas is 4.

I tried taking him home last year (which was 4 hrs away) and he died. But he'll probably die if I leave him at school with no food. (probably get lonely too, lol). I have a Beta Fish.

Buy an automatic feeder which will dispense a small amount of food every day. Most pet stores that sell fish supplies will have them. They aren't very expensive. As for lonely, fish don't have very long memories so he will probably get over it.

i personally would take him home. just use that seal and wrap saran wrap that came out a while back to cover the top of his jar, slice a few air holes in it with a knife or something, and maybe put a band of tape around it too just to make sure it stays. I moved 40 gallons of water and fish by myself in one day with this method.

i would stay away from the automatic feeders. bettas typically dont eat much and the left over food would be left to spoil his tank. the same with those feeder blocks you can buy in pet stores.

if you dont take him home over vacations, the water levels would get out of control and probably lead to his death. There really isnt a solid reason why he would die when he got home, as long as youre careful

I would take it home. Just find a cooler - like a lunchbox or styrofoam one - get one of those sealable lunch containers and put him in it with some of his water and that in the cooler and seal it so it stays warm on th trip. Keep some of the water in the tank along with the deocrations and gravel when you move that. Generally don't transport the fish in the tank - to mucsh sloshing around. When you get home add some water of the same temp, and dechlorinated, like you do a water change and your fish is ready to go back in his tank.

you can get holliday feeding blocks that will slowley release food for about a week.
get it from most pet shops, they may have longer ones but that is all realy. you could also try putting live food in as well as it will have to catch thim so they may last a few days.
i have seen an auto feeder you put food in and at sertan times it will releace a bit in the tank (like a cat feeder) i saw it in pets at home.

You need to find a babysitter. Thats what I do for college students. I go to the dorms and take care of fish and hamsters. Maybe you can find one where you are.

have some take care of it. Or take it home. If you can't resolve that, give it to someone who like fish.
