He could be thinking it over, or in shock... or planning an escape. It's hard to tell from so little data. It really depends on his personality and communication style, which don't have anything to do with you. If he is the quiet, thoughtful type and you're more outgoing, he's probably thinking about it and/or in shock. But either way, the situation points out that the two of you could use some work understanding one another and your respective personalities and communication styles. Talk more (and not just about "will you marry me"). DON'T get married without pre-marital counseling. You could be a perfect fit (opposites do attract, and can make a strong team), but you don't want to tear one another apart over the years by different expectations and poor communication. Good luck!

Well, he could be shocked, he could be thinking, you could have taken away his manhood.. I asked my current hubby to marry me.. he said no, and walked away.. I was in shock.. but a day later, he came back to me and told me that the only reason he said no was because I had hurt his feelings. He said that proposing was what the man was supposto do, and I made him feel like less of a man when I asked. He told me that when the time was right, I would get my proposal, and I did, and we're married.

Don't sweat it.No answer means he's thinking about if he's ready for the big leap. If hes says yes it's all allright, if he says no, you shouldnt worry either. It doesn't mean he has doubts about his love for you, it means hes not ready yet. Either way, you'll be okay. Don't start doubting you're relationship if he says no (a lot of ppl do that)

l think he was planning on asking you, but you beat him to it, so what type of ring did you get him, were you on your knees when you proposed, some don't like that they feel like you have taken the pants away from them, or he is more traditional the man does the proposing
