Its a shame that they can't, but there is a limited amount of space even on these huge warships.....can you imagine trying to move 10,000 people out of a country? now imagine trying to move 10,000 people and and 5000 pets. Not very easy.

Think about the fact that there is a queue to get into port and how you would feel if not all the brits got out because the swedes or the italians were using up docking time getting amimals out....it's not fair for us to do it.

Also consider that every minute that a ship is in port it is danger, what would you say if the ship got hit with a missle during the extra time it had to stay in port to get the animals on board, all those men woman and children that would be hurt, burnt and killed just for the familly pet.

I love my pet dog but if it was between him and my daughter or my mother, then i would have to leave him.

Good question but you need to keep things in perspective.....

I think that in an ideal world they should take the pets but it is not and where would it stop! imagine people arguing over bringing Horses, cattle etc there would be not enough room for all the people! The navy have got to consider the safety of themselves and the citizens they are removing 1st! You also have to consider the short time span that they have been allowed to get these people to safety! They have not got time to take pets through quarantine procedures first and those rules are there for our protection!

I also think that the Royal Navy should dig up the trees and take them on-board. Why should the innocent plants suffer the horrors of war? There is PLENTY of room on the ships.
The poor defenseless trees cannot even take cover. Save the trees!

I think it's more a question of quarantine than space on the ship. It's sad. Few people mention the animals who suffer too in wars.

traveling by sea with animals and hundreds of people sorry i would not want to be on that shipall the desaese that could spread.... i love animals as much as the next person but i would rather bury a cat dog whatever then a member of the public that had done nothing wrong but get caught up in a war zone

Sad - But in reality - can you imagine thousands of people, squashed into a ship built for a few hundred - then thousands of animals pushed in on top? Not possible - even if you could - how would you house them - shove them all in a room together? - Food, mess??? I dont think you could even if you wanted to - cages for each one, people to care for them....

I'm sure there is and maybe a little room could be found for innocent Lebanese people who are being attacked illegally by a nuclear state supported by both the u.k and u.s.a. governments. in fact it was us who supplied the planes etc that are bombing the innocent people and animals as we speak.

Off course there's enough room. Typical selfish people behaviour. Animals are betrayed over and over.

There's plenty of strays left behind in most armed conflicts. A friend of mine had the sad duty of shooting any number of dogs lest they interfere with evidence of war crimes in Bosnia :( :( ! That's the side of war you won't see on TV.

well quarantine must be an issue here, as well as getting the citizens from our fine land out. Its a shame it has to happen but they have to get in , out and away as fast as possible.
