Home depot has a spray that works for up to 6 months. I sprays as a liquid and then dries to a powder that the ants take back to the nest. Be careful how you spray around the utensils. I would suggest moving everything away until you are done spraying. Then in about 2-3 days return them.

First you wioll have to study where the ants are comming from, and where they are going through. Its easy, just follow the line they travel. Then, take DDT or any ant powder, mix with water to thicken to a paste, as dusting dry powder is harmful(it may touch utensils etc) Apply this on the edges of the cabinet, on wall corners, on thr route the ants take.

After a few days, ant might re-enter via another route. Repeat the process, but this time make sure that the sink, the plumbing is clear. You may use the flush-clean available at hardware stores.

We had a similar problem. After many trials & errors, we finally stuck to above remedy.

We're ant free now.

I swear i live in the ant capitol of Oregon. The only thing i found that works is a liquid product called Tarro it comes in an orange colored small box (2"x4") and is at walmart. You only need a few drops. Keep putting it out til the ants quit coming and dont kill the ants- it works cuz they carry it back to the queen and she dies. It works for quite a while- once they are under controll -put it out at the first sign of ants. It gets tacky if left for more than a day or so - so reapply. If you have a lot of them the drops will dissappear w/in hrs- so reapply. It only costs about 3 dollars too.

What you have is probably sugar ants. Buy traps specifically for them. Look for boric acid in the list of ingredients. It takes a while to kill the colony. Put away all sweet items that are on the counter--sugar, honey, etc. Do not spray. It scatters the colony and you'll have even more ants. I had this problem this spring and it has worked for me. No more ants.

Put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray aroung the edge of the floor and everywhere. You'll get rid of the ants and have a clean kitchen at the same time. When your finished with the cupboard tops then do your fridge.

i read an article in good housekeeping about getting rid of ants and this is what they said. sprinkle boric acid or borax powder around the entrances of your home and around any visible trails. inside your home, dust infested areas with boric acid mixed with an equal amount of flour, cornmeal,or sugar. ( put up barriers if you have children). . the ants will carry the grain back to their nests, feed on them ,a nd die. in general clean your house surfaces well and put away any food at night. kitchen floors should be wahed often and the trash taken out daily. you can also buy ant traps which took a while to kill them but did the job none the less in my house

Apply pesticide into cracks you see on floors and walls and ceilings and the area outside the house. You may need to do that to the sewage, too. The ants may disappear for a while. If they show up again you may have to repeat the process. I live in a tropical country and I do so regularly. It works well -- although in the long run I do not know what kind of terrible side-effect I may run into.

I had this problem once. I used ant trap and put then in the window sill. They all marched to the traps and not on my counter.
Also if you can trace their trail as to where they are coming from. Then get some raid and spray away.

Go to the pharmacy, or drug store and get some boric acid. (its a powder).

Mix that with sugar, and put it where the ants are coming in, or if you find thier hole, pour some of it on the outside and they will carry it into the nest and it will kill them all.

I wish you well..
