It lasted from 1789 - 1799. Really, did you have to waste 5 points asking that when you could probably just type it in any search engine and find out straight away?

This is a potted history of the Republican phase of the French Revolution!
The French Revolution is generally agreed to have started with the Estates-General meeting on May 5th 1789. It was believed France was made up of three estates: the nobility, the Church and the bourgoisie (the Third Estate). The bourgoisie believed they had been given more votes, so had some say in what went on. However, it turned out they did not. They hoped it would be one representative, one vote (voting by poll). However, it turned out it would be one body, one vote (voting by order) - which gave them no chance of changing anything.
Let's just say the Third Estate was rather fed up by this and had their own convention, asking the others to join them. They called themselves the Communes (the commons) and voted in lots of things on May 28th. On June 17 they declared themselves the National Assembly, an assembly not of the Estates, but of the People.
They were shut out of the Salle des Etats by Louis XVI so moved to an indoor tennis court. They swore the Tennis Court Oath on Jun 20th, agreeing not to break up until France had a constitution.
Lots of the clergy joined them and, by June 27th the nobles had basically agreed also - although the army was waiting outside Paris in case of problems.
July 9th - Assembly renamed again (!), as the National Constituent Assembly. this was dissolved on September 30th 1791.
July 11 1789 banished a minister that was for the reforms. The people of Paris thought this was the start of a royal coup and began to rebel. Some of the army joined in the rebellion.
July 14th - storming of the bastille to release political prisoners - there were none! There were only 7 prisoners: four forgers, two lunatics and a sex offender. Great political prisoners! however, it was to become the symbol of the revolution.
July 27 1789 King visits Paris and starts to make amends.
However, the revolution continued
August 4th - feudalism outlawed, removing the powers of the nobles, clergy, towns, provinces, companies and cities.
July 14th 1790, people celebrated the fall of the bastille, there was a mass when everyone, including the king, swore an oath of fidelity to the nation, the law and the king.
Despite this, there were uprisings in more and more parts of France.
On 1 October 1791, the Legislative Assembly met - the king and the assembly shared power (but the king had the right of veto).
This collapsed under a year later.
On April 20 1792, France declared war on Austria (who were joined by Prussia later). This was the start of the French Revolutionary Wars.
The start of the war went badly for France but they won the first major battle, the Battle of Valmy on September 20 1792. However, because of the start of the war, the monarchy was effectively finished.
August 10 1792 - The Tuileries was stormed and the king and queen made prisoners.
September 20 1792 - new Government set up;
September 21 1792 - monarchy abolished and France declared a republic
January 17 1793 - King condemned to death
January 21 1793 - King Louis executed
October 16 1793 - Marie Antoinette executed
1793-1794 - Reign of Terror, where 1200 executed
July 27 1794 - people revolted against reign of terror .
August 17 1795 - yet another constitution agreed
September 26 1795 - constitution came into effect
November 9 1799 - Napoleon staged a coup, became a dictator and eventually emperor, on 2 December 1804. Him becoming Emperor ended the republican phase of the French Revolution - how can a republic have an emperor as a leader!

It started on the 14th of july 1789 when the parisians stormed the jail known a la Bastille in search of weapons. There is no clear answer as to when it ended since there are various points of view
Some say it ended with the start of the assemblée nationale ( an early form of parlement)
Some say it ended with the execution of louis the 16th in 1791
Others say that(and this is actually the most common view)
it ended with the execution of Robespierre and the following rise of Napoleon in 1799.
