Perhaps you're looking for the Greek names?

There were various types. Perhaps most well known are the "triaconter" (often known as a trireme), and the "pentaconter". There are arguments as to exactly how they looked - whether they had three and five (respectively) separate banks of oars, or whether the numbers referred to the number of men attached to each oar (unless that's now been decided, in which case ignore this bit!).
