since 2000 years ago it has been persian gulf.but arabs say it is arabic gulf.and an american atlas wrote it arabic gulf.if u were iranian and they wanted to change the name of a part of your country what would u do?

I do get where you are coming from.We English would be well thrilled to have the English Channel become the French Channel. There is just one small thing though- we all refer to Persia as Iran now, making the use of "Persian" redundant.
For my money why not compromise and have the Arabian Persian Gulf -taken strictly on alphabetical order?
When I first moved to the middle east I was informed that I had better tell people to write Arabian Gulf on letters addressed to me or they would never reach me, so it was a sore point even 30+ years ago.

They can write Persian or Arabic... the Gulf itself won't change... only our ego hurts. Personally i do not bother a lot about the name, but more about, if they really won't stop their wars... there will be no Gulf, no Iran, no US of A$$, and no more Atlas to watch in... that hurts more, then a wrong name in an American atlas...
come on, some of them think Iraq is in south America... just don't bother...
