hi there guys,

me and my girlfriend recently made love for the first time and I am concerned she may be pregnant. I used a condom and she is on the pill but she is a couple of days late.. could there be other reasons for this? It's just the chances of her being pregnant seem so remote with double contraception but i'm stressing.. should i be?

I've had a few pregnancy scares with partners too, but it all turned out ok in the end. One time an ex was nearly 2 weeks late coming on. She took a pregnancy test after a few days and it was negative but she still had no period for ages. There are many reasons why a womans period can be late and pegnancy is only one of them. It can be metabolic, hormonal, emotional or stress related. If you want to find out quickly then a pregnancy test is the only way. They cost about £10-£15 and you can get one at any chemist.

Any stress on a woman's reproductive system (like sex) can cause her to be late.

While there is a chance that she is pregnant, it's pretty slim as long as you used the condom correctly and she has been using the pill correctly.

The more you and she worry the later and later her period will come, so just chill out and if she doesn't get it by next week get a test and see how it comes out!

Good luck

It sounds like you did everything the way you're supposed to. You were safe, she's on the pill... you really shouldn't worry about anything. If she is younger (and I'm assuming she is) then it's normal for her period to be irregular sometimes. It can take many years before she develops a cycle that's like clock work. So try not to worry. You have a very very very very teeny tiny chance she may be pregnant. You're probably more likely to get struck by lightning! :-)

I think you should be safe using both a condom and the pill.

I don't think so. Girls use to be late for many reasons and sometimes also groundlessly.. But what you really should do is take her to a doctor

Buy a test or see a doctor...the best protection is NO SEX if it worries you.
