Roald Dahl is an exceptional writer . I love all his books especially "BOY" and "Going Solo".
as a young teen I liked Judy Blume , my fav being "Are you there God? It's me Margaret."
I also liked the book "The Good Earth " by Pearl S. Buck and "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Arthur Golden.
lately , i just finished reading a book called "Five Point Someone" by Chetan Bhagat ....it was a breezy read , humourous and very engaging.you can read this book again and again and not get bored.
I would suggest Sydney Sheldon,Robin Cook and Nicholas Sparks in commercial bestseller reads.
Currently , I'm reading "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts. looks good so far !

Happy reading !

Orson Scott Card is my favorite novelist. His books are ones I want to read over and over and over again. I first read his book Ender's Game for a class assignment, and ever since I've been addicted to anything and everything Orson Scott Card. Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow are probably my favorites from a series...but my favorite novels (stand-alones...or non-series titles) are Enchantment and Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus. He writes mostly science fiction, some fantasy, and a few realistic fiction.

Julia Quinn is my favorite romance writer. I love her Bridgerton series. It follows the "loves" of 8 siblings...anyway, her books are set in the Regency period of England...and they're very fun.

Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite YA authors. I love her books. And I would definitely want to reread her books because they are so good. I just finished her latest novel, Just Listen.

Stephenie Meyer is a relatively new writer--YA writer. Twilight came out last year, and it is wonderful. I loved it. The sequel is coming out in a few months, and I am so excited!

Michael R. LaMontagne and Ronald E. Snyder wrote King Fortis the Brave. I think it's their first book, but it is the first book in a trilogy. It was really fantastic and I can't wait until the second book comes out. These guys show a lot of promise.

JM Coetzee...he writes in a style that can appeal to the casual reader as well as the hardcore lit-head looking to delve into the deep metaphors that abound. Winner of the Booker Prize for Disgrace.

Janet Evanovich, I love all of her Stephanie Plum books (1-12 starting with one for the money) Hilarious series about a female bounty hunter who used to be in lingerie sales but went to work for her cousin vinny at a bond office. I've read most of them a couple times each and they still make me laugh my *** off.

I'm surprised no one else has said this, but Stephen King. He is so descriptive, and the scary part is, a lot of his stories could actually happen.

I also like Jennifer Crusie when I want light and funny.
