I had a professor tell us in a lecture that African Americans were enslaved for 400 years, it will take 400 more years for the hate and racism to end. So by about the year 2200, this world MIGHT be free of racism, if the world even still exists.

I agree racism is horrible, but so many people are freakin backwood @ssholes still, ever visit the south? I live in Houston, racism is alive and well in these little towns all around us. About 3 months ago, I was out with my BF, and we drove past a KKK rally. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen those freaks out there in little white hoods. We talked about stopping and messing with them since I am as white as the come and my BF is a huge Mexican. They would of hated that.

I am not racist and do not excuse racism. However, I can explain it. Disliking someone because of a visible difference to you or even an accent is built into the human subconcious as those people are very unlikely to be related to you and therefore are competing with your family for resources.

Obviously this makes little sense today compared to a hundred thousand years ago but although our society has changed, our brains have not. The roots of the mechanism can still be seen today though, a common complaint by racist people is that people of a different race are taking jobs. It is also particularly offensive to racist people that there are mixed race couples.

I can not understand why so much hate is still around. You would think with so much happening in the world that we could put our dislikes to rest. It has reached way past skin tone and ethnic backgrounds. I have seen this hate even in the difference of hair and eye color as well as height and weight. You see It has gone beyond Racism and turned to finding other reasons to hate one another. And as long as we can learn acceptance and tolerance racism will never end.
It is wrong to say all are this way and it is wrong to place blame on anyone or place percentages of who is to blame. The best we can do is not be that which we have learned to hate and change how we see things and be different then others. And by our good nature maybe it will change at least one other and in time things would not be so bad.

actually some of the answers are also racist, the fact is that all of us no matter where we come from, what we do, how educated we are have a little prejudice in us. Just look at the woman who said that 80% of Caucasian were and only 20% of others. That right there is stereo typing which is a part of racism. I don't like racist and neither do you so that makes us prejudice against racist, but that in it self is racist. It is more then just color or were you come from but racism is also your religion, your age, your gender, and your education. People who hate uneducated people are racist too. Does it suprise me, not really cause the fact is that the reason most people are this way is because we learn from our parents and from religion that this is okay to think this way.

Well , when one black person can call another black person a,"N----r" , that shows right there that it is the blacks who keep racism alive . Most caucasion people do not care about racism and wish that the black people would just shut-up and drop the whole idea .If the colored people would stop dragging it up , it would go away . As it stands now , they receive more benefits than other race in america . I was not able to get a loan for college because I am white , what does that tell you .

It flies in the face of all reason and logic; racists scare me because to me they seem to possess a very special and unique kind of stubborn ignorance!

I mean, besides all the religion, morals, and just plain human decency that says we are all just people, there's the loads of scientific evidence that has proved how infinitessimally tiny the differences amongst ANY of us really are, and how we all came from the same ancestry. Hell, by now the so called "races" have mingled and interbred so much anyway, it seems as though we will all be one and the same mixture eventually, yet each of us unique and specially blended, lol. I think that's awesome!
