Not only him, the blame has to be shared by the whole team. What about Dida? That ball has to be his, so close to the goal. What about the offense? They couldn't score And what about the media and the fans? They glorified a team and players that, at best, are average. Fab 4? Pleeeease..

Football is never an individual game . but saying this also some individual mistakes may cost the match . Roberto Carlos in this case made a glaring error of not marking Thierry Henry. who was unmarked to receive Zidane's cross and score the goal . But we should understand that the whole world n even the Brazilian coach know that Roberto Carlos is not n out n out a classical defender . he is mainly an attacking left back .. so expecting that much is expecting if there would have been a proper defender he might have stopped the goal . But all this if n buts will not change the result . Also Brazil is known to play by principle 'You score one n we score two ' as their defence was never thought to be strong. That night the Fab Four 'Ronaldo , Adriano, Ronaldinho , Kaka' all failed to weave the magic . so could not score goals . So it could not be said That only because of Roberto Carlos Brazil lost the match . It was a collective failure of all players n coach also.

Brazil played below par in that game but given that it was a one goal loss I am prepared to lay the blame with Roberto Carlos.

Hunched over, looking down to the ground and apparently catching his breath, Roberto Carlos let Henry walk in all alone for an easy tap in...

no not roberto carlos alone
but due to the whole team who are just a group of stars who thought they made up a team and they all acted individually
ronaldinho was the worst in brazil

i think that brasil's loss was due to lack of unity within the team. there are great players on the brasil team but they all want to be the star rather than helping the team win as a whole.

however, i think i read somewhere that certain players were urged to not attempt to score and to not play as they would normally...this could certainly be wrong but it may also be a reason that brasil lost against france.

It goal was his fault . But the entire team didn't played, they were just standing there while France was playing.

no, no. its the fat ugly ronaldo, he is too fat and slow. he can only score if the ball falls into his path. farking fat pig, should not be playing. he should retire. parking pigg. he does not deserve the 15 goals record. in 2010, klose will take away his record.

It's the coache's fault. He did not put in Robinho until the very end, and he is a very good player.
