Tell him his jokes are cute but as for you, you're not looking for a relationship at this time and you like things just as they are. This will let him know you think it's a joke and have no desire to find out if he's serious or not.

You need to be straight with him and the sooner the better. You could do it in a letter because it is hard the way he is acting. Make sure to tell him you love him as a friend and want to stay friends but it is difficult to deal with his feelings as they are now.

Use another tern than best friend. Say my friend,but not best friend.
Best friends of th opposite sex are the ones you marry. If it physical attraction you are looking for then you will get married and be miserable for the time of the mariage. And you will wish that the husband you take would make you feel as good as your best friend did when you were with him.

Just explain that you are a woman and that every relationship you have isn't about sex...and say he's like a BROTHER...that will really turn him off. That always works with me.

tell him directly that for you it is just a friendship& nothing more. he may get hurt but it seems the best way.
