It is uncommon. But yes, it happens. In that case, you deal with it. I know of women who take herbal treatments to lengthen their cycles, for instance. If that doesn't work, you would consult with your rav who would be able to give you a halachic opinion on what can be done. It would be different for different women, depending on the details. See sources section for more information, but you will have to check it with *your* rav. These pages are from the site maintained by Israeli women who are trained to give halachic opinions on issues of niddah.

And, by the way, in response to the above, you *don't* ovulate "mid-cycle" or on day 14. You ovulate 2 weeks before the *next* period. Only a woman with short cycles would ovulate during the first 12 days of her cycle.

P.S. See the comment I left on your previous question...

Most women ovulate mid-cycle. If your cycle is 28 days you ovulate around 14 days after your period.

It's not rare at all, but there are treatments to delay the ovulation.

For more information you can contact "PUAH" - http://www.puah.org.il - they can give you advice (there is an English section on their site)

Another good place to look for information is at ATIME - http://www.atime.org (site is US based)

Both sites have forums where you can ask not only rabbis but also other women.
