Well, my knee has been aching for a long time, I used to be active not too long ago, about (4 mos ago). I still dance a whole lot though. It is a pain that is in between my knee and the back, it's in the middle...well, all i know is that i can't massage it. And I cannot stretch it because it is very hard to stretch whatever part that is. My knee locks too. And the pain is just not right. I will go get it checked out, but I want to know if anyone has any idea what it is.

I think it's time for the Orthopedic specialist.
I would imagine that this has to do with the cartilage between the distal part of the Femur and the proximal parts of the tibia and fibula. this is the "Knee joint" also the patella "Knee cap"

But for now the concern is the cartilage. It acts as a very slippery cushion for the bones. This is also enclosed in a sack like structure that contains fluid for lubrication.

Now you could have several things wrong here.

Bad degenerated cartilage,
torn cartilage,
the fluid could be dryed up or leaking,
or you may have bursitis,
arthritis,

and the list goes on.

So sadly to say you will need the doctor to run tests to figure this out.

How ever, the knee has had so much study research and development due to sports injuries that they can really do a lot for you...

If the pain is in the leg in back between the knee and your back, its most likely your hamstring muscles. You should by all means talk to your doctor, but also do stretching before dancing (stretching your hamstring involves laying on your stomach and bending your knee slowly with your ankle going towards your head) and wearing lower heels should also help. Swimming is a great low-impact exercise to become active again, too.

Depends on your life and how much abuse you have put on your knee. Some people get water on the knee, joints deteriorate and in my case they never formed in my knees properly because of genetics. My Great-Great-Granddad was in a wheelchair but I had surgery and now mine locks and works fine see a ortho because it could be something simple or simply worse your body is not something to play with care for it.
