There Is some measure of hostility because sometimes people who are discriminated against can lash out worst at those who can pass as mainstream. After slavery was abolished there was a lot of backlash against those mixed race peoples that could pass as white. It is the same thing. We often times get the negative feelings leveled at the gay community directed at us because A) we understand the issues they are going through. and B) we don't have to (in their eyes) be a part of that issue if we don't "choose" to.
What they fail to realize that just like them we don't choose this. We are not transitioning we are self aware and know we are not 100% straight or 100% homosexual. I am not sure it will ever be resolved. We, I sometimes believe, will forever be in the hall looking into two rooms in which neither one will offer us a safe place to be ourselves.
I sometimes think that being bisexual is the loneliest place in the world. I wish I could find a bisexual friend to hang out with so that I could have someone to really talk to about these issues.
Oh well. I know there is no such thing as gravity the world just sucks.

I have had the very same experience! Nevermind that I am totally monogamous (If I wanted someone else, why the ehll would I be with you?) and I only dated one lesbian because all the others just turned away when they found out.

I am monogamous. I don't "swing", and don't want it "open." I've only had four sexual partners in my life. I have two college degrees and a stable job. I am going back to school. I speak three languages.

But no one sees that. They see the girl who wants to have the cake and eat it too--a disease spreader, an indecisive gay going through a phase or not able to fully commit myself to being gay.

I found a guy after many years who doesn't care that I'm bisexual. He knows how I am and we are totally happy.

I still want to fight the good fight though--no matter how long we are together, I am still bisexual, and tehre is nothing that can change that.

Sadly there are many myths about bi people, but with more education and more "out" bisexuals the myths should go away. Some lesbians are jaded by a bad break-up with a bi girl, but that is just a bad break-up and has nothing to do with being bisexual.

I know that not all bisexual women are the same, but unfortunately, I've had too many negative experiences with them to ever really be open to dating a bisexual woman again. It's not your sexuality that I really have a problem with...It's the bisexuals who don't understand the meaning of honesty and a monogamous relationship...

Most gays have hostility towards you guys because many have hurt us, whether by having "open" relationships, or my telling us we have to "share" them with whoever else they want to sleep with...

I know exactly what you're talking about. I have a friend who loves gay people and is all for gay rights but they hate the idea of Bisexuals. From what I heard, he says that you can't be attracted to both. I guess that people think that we bisexuals are trying to have our cake and eat it too. I believe that we can't help that we have feelings for both sexes.

It's something you are going to meet every day, from the straight side and the homosexual side. Not all of them, but some of them. At the end of the day, if they are born gay, they have to accept that we are born bisexual, and its the same for straight people. It all boils down to people not accepting oor trying to understand others who are different from them.

Because it's something (some) monosexuals don't care to understand or believe is possible. You are not being selfish - you ARE self-aware. That we should be regarded as "sitting on the fence" "confused", "selfish", "hedonists", "unfaithful"... just smacks of simple ignorance.

It does my nut in that, because some people identify as Bi - in their transition to being gay, every one of us Bi-folk are automatically in denial (river in Africa, girl, don'tcha know!) over our true sexuality.

Check out the link below - for some comfort.

This is because society is taught to see only in black and white. They think that you're either straight or gay, not both. It is our job as bisexuals to educate them.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Well, you ARE being selfish, and that is a GOOD thing. You are paying attention to YOURSELF. You are being honest with / about YOURSELF. You are being the hero of your own self interest, and that's the best way to be.

Let others solve their own problems, and you enjoy yourself.
